NEW!!! Weekly Training Sessions
(No session Sat. 8/16/08. See Training Day details below.)
If you're looking for a
group training session, come out with us every Saturday morning. Members
of Tejas HRC will meet every Saturday morning at the new Retriever Training Area
in George Bush Park. The training area consists of the pond and the area
immediately surrounding the pond underneath the large electrical transmission
line tower in George Bush Park. It's directly across the road from the entrance to American
Shooting Centers. Training sessions are informal and take place every
Saturday from now until hunting season. Exceptions are Saturdays when an
official club training day is scheduled at a different location. Hope to
see you this Saturday.
Welcome New Members!
Tejas HRC is excited to welcome the
following new members to our club:
Judson Bryant, Mike Frankoff, Lisa
Frederick, Sean Hale, Charlie Melancon and Mickey O'Callaghan.
2008/2009 Membership Dues
Just a friendly reminder to all current
members that it's that time of year again. Annual membership dues of $35
are due now. If you haven't received a statement yet, you should be
receiving one shortly. If you don't receive one, don't let that stop you
from signing up for another year.
Please make checks payable to Tejas HRC.
If you can't make this month's meeting, checks can be mailed to Deborah Story.

THRC Training Day - Saturday, August 16th
Tejas HRC is co-hosting
a training day with the folks from
Colorado
River Retriever Club. This training day will be a mock HRC Hunt Test
with licensed HRC judges on hand to give you pointers, tips, suggestions and
advice. The setup will consist of a Seasoned level blind, a Finished level
blind and three marks. Each handler should mix and match which segments to
run in order to simulate a test appropriate for the particular dog's level.
Even though this is a mock hunt test, it is still training. Make sure you
benefit you and your dog. Click here for more information regarding times
and location for the Mock
Hunt Test.
