Picture of the Month

This photograph of Topform's B-2 Spirit SH "Jet" (owned by club member Sean Hale) was taken by professional photographer Bob Langrish.  He recently came out and photographed Tejas members' dogs working.  We're hoping to see our dogs in one of the many professional publications which work with Mr. Langrish.  To see more of his work with dogs and horses, check out his websites at www.boblangrish.com and www.ka9photo.co.uk.  (The above picture is copyright protected and can not be reproduced or used without the written permission of Mr. Bob Langrish.)

General Meeting - Wednesday, 1 July 2009

Our June meeting speaker is Dorothy RuehmanDorothy is an experienced trainer and handler and is also an AKC Master judge.  She will be providing us hints and tips on handling dogs in hunt tests. This will be valuable information coming into hunt test season next fall.

Monthly general meetings are at 7:00pm on the first Wed. of every month at Gander Mountain, located at the corner of Hwy 6 and 290 (map).  Visitors and guests are strongly encouraged to attend.  Please come out, introduce yourself and see what we have to offer you and your dogs.  This a great time to meet some of our members and find out when and where we will be out working our dogs.

Business Meeting - Wednesday, 30 June 2009

Business meetings are typically held on the last Wednesday of every month at 7:00pm at the Gander Mountain located at the corner of Hwy 6 and 290 (map).  All current club members are encouraged to attend.  We will be discussing plans for club events taking place through out the summer and fall.

Weekly Training Sessions

If you're looking for a group training session, come out with us every Saturday morning.  Members of Tejas HRC  meet every Saturday morning at either the new Retriever Training Area in George Bush Park (GBP) or our club training grounds.  See the Schedule of Events.  The GBP training area consists of the pond and the area immediately surrounding the pond underneath the large electrical transmission line tower in George Bush Park.  It's directly across the road from the entrance to American Shooting Centers.  The club grounds are located near I-10 (Katy Freeway) and Highway 6.  Members may contact a club officer for a map, Liability Waiver, and gate access.  Training day exceptions are formal club training days and other special club events.  We hope to see you this Saturday.

Technical Tuesdays at Cedar Bayou

Join us every Tuesday evening at Cedar Bayou Kennels just south of Hempstead.  This is the perfect training situation for dogs starting swim-by up to Master level dogs working on multiple water entries.  Special thanks to Sandra and Chet Beatty for allowing us access to their beautiful technical water.

Hosted Training Days

Great news!!  Steve Biggers has agreed to host two training days for Tejas.  The first training day will be July 18 and will focus on young dogs running Started/Junior or transitioning into Seasoned/Senior.  The second training day will be August 8 and will focus on more advanced dogs that are running or preparing to run Finished/Master level tests.  Stay tuned to the website for more details on times and locations.
