Tejas is Hosting an AKC Judging Seminar!!!

Even if you're not interested in becoming a judge, you should attend this event.  Judging seminars are invaluable for helping anyone become a better trainer and handler.  We hope to see you there.

• What:  AKC Judges Seminar

• When:  Saturday, February 7, 2009, 9:00am to 6:00pm

• Where:  Gander Mountain, 19820 Hempstead Hwy, Houston, TX 77065 (US290 @ Hwy 6 northwest Houston)

• Hosting Club:  Tejas Hunting Retriever Club

• Cost:  $40.00 per person prepaid (Members active prior to December 1, 2008 are free)

• Registration Deadline:  January 27, 2009 or when all seats are filled.

On Sunday, all seminar attendees are invited to a field training day where they will receive expert instruction on test preparation and mechanics; we'll discuss test objectives and the utilization of factors in the setting-up a series; then we'll run a dog or two for everyone to score. Scores will be discussed and analyzed. This will be an extremely useful and productive session wherein everyone gets to "hold the book" and get a real feel for "sitting in the chair" as a judge.

Weekly Training Sessions

If you're looking for a group training session, come out with us every Saturday morning.  Members of Tejas HRC will meet every Saturday morning at the new Retriever Training Area in George Bush Park.  The training area consists of the pond and the area immediately surrounding the pond underneath the large electrical transmission line tower in George Bush Park.  It's directly across the road from the entrance to American Shooting Centers.  Exceptions are Saturdays when an official club training day is scheduled at a different location.  Hope to see you this Saturday.

Business Meeting - Tuesday, 30 December 2008

Business meetings are typically held on the last Wednesday of every month at 7:00pm at the Gander Mountain located at the corner of Hwy 6 and 290 (map).  However, due to the fact that the last Wednesday in December also happens to be New Year's eve, we have rescheduled this month's business meeting to Tuesday, December 30.  Location and tim have not changed - 7:00pm at the Gander Mountain on 290.  All club members are encouraged to attend.

General Meeting - Wednesday, 7 January 2009

Monthly general meetings are at 7:00pm on the first Wed. of every month at Gander Mountain, located at the corner of Hwy 6 and 290 (map). The guest speaker for this month is currently unconfirmed, but check back here often for details.  Visitors and guests are strongly encouraged to attend.  Please come out, introduce yourself and see what we have to offer you and your dogs.
